About Sean Strecker / @strex

From IT geek to drone cinematographer. The long way through Bali.

I first came to Bali in 2001 as a 21-year-old on holiday. I was working as an IT professional and soldier at the time, not a photographer. The island made a huge impression on me but I wouldn't return for many years later.

I spent the last eight years of my defence career as an IT officer for Forces Command. High-pressure, high-responsibility work. The kind of role that takes a toll over time. By 2015 I knew I needed to change course completely, and I did. Consumer drones had just become serious tools, and I went all-in on photography and filmmaking.

I built a commercial career on the Gold Coast shooting high-end real estate and luxury resorts. Three months in Bali in 2019 gave me my first real taste of shooting the island properly. In 2023 I moved here full-time.

The presets, the pitch system, and the content tools on this site are what I actually use. Built because I needed them. Shared because they work.

IT career with Australian Army
Commercial aerial filmmaker since 2015, Gold Coast and Bali
Hotel, resort, and villa collaboration work across both markets
Full-time in Bali since 2023

A place for the knowledge I have been collecting for years.

The blog is where I’ll publish the field notes, creator lessons, aerial storytelling ideas, camera reviews, and workflow systems that do not fit inside a caption.
